How to Choose the Right Colour Temperature
Colour temperature is the single most important factor in choosing lighting. Get it wrong and your beautiful room feels clinical or uncomfortably yellow. Get it right and every space feels exactly as it should.
Warm White (2700-3000K)
Soft, golden light similar to traditional incandescent bulbs. Creates a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. Best for bedrooms, living rooms, dining areas, and any space where you want to unwind.
Neutral White (3500-4000K)
Clean, natural-looking light that is neither too warm nor too cool. The most versatile option. Ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, offices, and general living areas.
Daylight (5000-6500K)
Bright, energising light that mimics natural sunlight. Best for task-oriented spaces like workshops, garages, reading nooks, and detailed work areas. Not recommended for bedrooms as it can disrupt sleep.
The Golden Rule
Stick to one colour temperature throughout connected spaces. Mixing warm and cool lights in the same room creates visual confusion and feels jarring. Choose one temperature and be consistent.
CRI Matters Too
Colour Rendering Index (CRI) measures how accurately a light source reveals the true colours of objects. Look for CRI 90+ for accurate colour rendering. Low CRI lights make food look unappetising and skin tones appear unnatural.
